The subconscious source that keeps pulling you back into old patterns

You've probably already tried to change it.
Maybe you've read the books, talked about it in therapy, made plans, set your intentions...
And maybe it works for a while.
Then something irresistible pulled you back into the same pattern, the same reaction, the same version of yourself you thought you were done with.
It's not really a you problem.
It's the Emotional Identity Root.
Your subconscious mind is a pattern machine.
Its entire job is to learn what keeps you in what feels familiar and "safe," store it, and run it automatically, so you don't have to think about it every time.
That's actually useful. You don't have to consciously think about tying your shoes, moving your legs to walk, or flinching when something flies at your face.
But that same system also stored the emotional lessons from everything you've lived through.
The environment you grew up in. The moments that taught you something about who you are or what you're allowed to want. The experiences that repeated until your brain learned, OK, this is just the way things are.
Over time, those lessons don't just stay as memories.
They compress into something deeper - that felt sense, that tension in the body, that automatic response that fires before your conscious mind even catches up.
That's what I call the Emotional Identity Root.
It's not a thought. It's not a belief you can just decide to change. It's a feeling that got woven into your sense of self - what's familiar, what's possible, who you are.
And it runs in the background of everything.
From the inside, it usually feels like being stuck in a loop.
You can see the version of yourself you want to be. You know what you'd do differently. But in the moment that matters, something takes over and the old pattern wins out anyway.
It's the reaction that fires before you've had a chance to think.
It's the pull toward the thing you keep saying you're done with.
It's the way certain situations can shrink you, even when you know, logically, they shouldn't.
It feels like an unwritten rule - like the way things just are.
That's the Emotional Identity Root talking.
Because trimming and pruning at the surface doesn't change what's growing underneath.
You can manage the "symptom" of the problem without clearing what's driving it.
You can push through by sheer force of will without touching what's underneath.
You can understand the pattern for years and still find yourself back inside it.
When we work at the "root" level - in the feelings tied up in your identity - the pattern fundamentally shifts.
It's like pulling out poison ivy by the root so that something new can grow instead.
Which means you start finding yourself feeling differently with the same triggers...
And you start thinking, behaving, and reacting differently...
Which ultimately means YOU become a person who just... doesn't run the same pattern on repeat.

Trimming and pruning at the surface don't change what's growing underneath.
Nope. And this is one of the things that makes hypnosis work different.
You don't need a clear origin story. You don't need to identify the exact moment something started. You don't need to relive anything.
The root isn't a specific memory.
It's a pattern encoded into your feeling of identity.
And that pattern can be worked with directly.
We're not looking for why you are the way you are. We're working with how your nervous system is responding right now, and giving it something better to run instead.
You bring the awareness of what keeps happening... and that's enough.
Because the Emotional Identity Root doesn't live in the thinking part of your brain.

You can understand a pattern completely. You can know where it came from, know it isn't serving you, know exactly what you'd rather do... and still find yourself doing the old thing anyway.
That's simply the limit of trying to work at the conscious level
The Emotional Identity Root lives below the place where reasoning reaches.
It responds to the "subconscious" work. The direct kind. The kind that doesn't require you to argue yourself into a new reality but instead lets your nervous system experience a different one.
That's what hypnosis is for.
In hypnosis, you're in a state of focused, relaxed awareness where the subconscious mind becomes more accessible, less defended, more open to update.
In that state, we can work directly with the pattern.
Not by rehashing the past. Not by analyzing why it formed. But by giving your nervous system a new experience.
A new felt sense of what's true, what's safe, what's possible for you.
Your subconscious learned one way of doing things. Which means it can learn another.
The Emotional Identity Root formed through experience. It changes through experience too... just a different kind, one we create on purpose.
